What is your posture?
Updated: Oct 17, 2023
Did you know that our posture not only affects our appearance but also influences our height?
Certainly, our spine is the central axis of our body that significantly influences our posture and personality. Our daily habits and routines can lead to the spine getting accustomed to certain positions, affecting its alignment and structure.
Today, let's explore what type of posture you have using a simple comparison: C, S, or J, represented by the shape of your spine.
S Shape
A healthy S-Shape is the best posture. It is characterized by an upright position with a slight curve according to the standard criteria. It can be observed from the lower back vertebrae not protruding forward or curving backward. Individuals with an S-shaped spine have a dignified and graceful personality.
C Shape
or Flat Back is a posture with a slight reduction in the natural curve of the spine. It is characterized by a relatively straight lower back, but the upper part, especially around the shoulders, curves forward. This posture may result from genetics or habits such as prolonged sitting in office workers, tailors, computer users, or individuals who spend extended periods on soft and overly cushioned chairs. It can also occur due to sitting with a significant gap between the chair and the lower back, leading to excessive rounding of the spine.
J Shape
or Sway Back is a posture where the spine curves more than the standard curvature. The lower back bones are relatively flat or curved more than usual. The bones of the neck and shoulders curve forward. This posture is often found in people who tend to stick their buttocks out excessively, individuals with excess weight in the abdominal area, or those with weak abdominal muscles and a weak core.
