4 steps check your correct driving posture!
Updated: Oct 17, 2023
1. Proper Distance:
The ideal distance between the seat and the steering wheel should allow your arms and legs to be slightly bent, not stretched or cramped. For a suitable steering wheel grip, your arms should be relaxed, elbows not overly straight or bent, and shoulders not lifted. You should have easy control of the steering wheel. The right leg extension means your knees and feet are not overly straight or bent, allowing comfortable access to the brakes and accelerator without your knees hitting the steering wheel.
2. Lean Back Appropriately:
Adjust the seatback angle to approximately 100-110 degrees. Importantly, ensure your lower back touches the seatback as much as possible. Avoid lifting or tensing your shoulders, and keep your head from tilting, leaning forward, or protruding too much. Maintain clear visibility of the road ahead.
3. Seat and Headrest Height Adjustment:
Adjust the seat and headrest to the correct distance and recline angle. The headrest should be above your ears, promoting blood circulation in your hips and legs. Ensure your feet touch the ground and can rest comfortably while stopping. Proper adjustments promote relaxation, and clear visibility, and support your neck and shoulders during sudden braking or emergencies."
4. Proper Steering Wheel Grip:
Hold the steering wheel firmly, keeping hands at 9 o'clock on the left and 3 o'clock on the right, an ideal position for driving. Maintain a slight bend in your arms, matching the appropriate distance. This grip ensures easy control without causing shoulder or neck pain, reducing strain on the arm muscles.
